Bayer Leverkusen do not have to fear the departure of midfield talent Florian Wirtz in the short-term, the teenager's father and agent said Monday, reported dpa.

"Florian definitely wants to play a good role for Leverkusen for another two years or so," Hans-Joachim Wirtz told the Bild paper on Monday. "What comes next isn't known yet."

The 18-year-old Wirtz has already made 41 Bundesliga appearances and has a contract to 2026 with Leverkusen which, according to his father, retains his full focus along with the national team.

Wirtz's performances have attracted admiring glances from major clubs but Leverkusen sport chief Rudi Voller recently clarified there is no exit clause which could force the club to sell him.
