Lions score 3rd consecutive victory beating Sweden

An overtime goal by Harri Pesonen helped Finland to bring third consecutive victory against archrival Sweden in the men's ice hockey in the National Indoor Stadium at the Beijing Winter Olympics on Sunday.

Although the first period of the match was goalless draw and the Lions were behind by 3 goals at the end of second period, the Finns levelled the score at the third period and finally beat Sweden by four goals to three to reach to the quarter-finals as the best team of Group C.

At the third period, Iiro Pakarinen scored twice and Teemu Hartikainen scored one while the winning goal came from Pesonen at the third minute of extra time.

Earlier, at the second period Lucas Wallmark, Lukas Bengtsson and Anton Lander scored one goal each for Sweden.

In the previous two matches, Finland beat Slovakia by 6 goals to 2 and Latvia by three goals to one and remained unbeaten in the all three group matches.
