OLL boycotts all students events in Russia, Belarus

The Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) decided to boycott all upcoming competitions and events in Russia and Belarus until further notice following Russia's attack on Ukraine.

The federation at a meeting on Monday decided that the it will not send participants to competitions and events in Russia or Belarus for the time being, said OLL in a press release on Tuesday.

In addition, the federation will not accept the participation of representatives of Russia and Belarus in student sports events and competitions.

“We have set out to promote student sports in countries where the security situation is stable and human rights are respected. This is not the case in Russia and Belarus,” said OLL in the press release.

The decision has been notified to the Finnish Olympic Committee and the student sports umbrella organizations FISU (International University Sports Federation) and EUSA (European University Sports Association), the press release added.
