FIFA suspends Russia from all competitions

The governing body of international football association, FIFA and European football association UEFA on Monday decided that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.

The decision was adopted by the he Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, which envisaged the adoption of additional measures, said FIFA in a press release.

“Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine. Both Presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly so that football can again be a vector for unity and peace amongst people”, said FIFA in a statement.

Earlier on Sunday, FIFA said that Russia will be able to participate in international competitions under the name the Football Union of Russia (RFU) without their flag and anthem.

FIFA took the decisions following the Russia´s attack on Ukraine.
