Suur-Hamari wins 4th medal for Finland in Beijing Paralympics

Snowboarder Matti Suur-Hamari on Friday brought fourth medal for Finland and second for himself after he won silver at the ongoing Beijing Winter Paralympics in the men's banked slalom SB-LL2.

Defending champion Suur-Hamari secured second place after finishing in 1:09.98 while Sun Qi of China, who finished in 1.09.73 won gold and Ollie HILL of United Kingdom won bronze in the event.

"Pretty awesome. I didn't really expect a medal from banked slalom because we haven't really trained that much in banked slalom, we put it all in snowboard cross," Suur-Hamari, who had been crowned in the men's snowboard cross SB-LL2 at Beijing 2022 on Monday told news agency Xinhua.

"Although the banked slalom was like a plus, I am always putting everything in when I'm on the course. I was lucky to put down that really good time on the first run," he added.

With this gold, Finland won total four medals-two golds and two silvers- so far in the Beijing 2022 Paralympic.

Earlier on Thursday, Santeri Kiiveri won gold for Finland in Alpine Skiing at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic.

On 7 March Suur-Hamari won gold and Santeri Kiiveri won silver at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in China.

Suur-Hamari secured first place in Men's Snowboard Cross SB-LL2 and Kiiveri secured second place in the Alpine Skiing Men's Super Combined Slalom Standing.
