Germany's veteran captain Manuel Neuer is going into the World Cup year 2022 without concrete plans over his future in goal for the national team, reported dpa.
Neuer will be 36 on Sunday but says he has no thoughts of retiring after the finals in Qatar at the end of the year.
Germany host Euro 2024 and Neuer has neither played a full major tournament at home or won the continental title in his personal trophy haul.
"I don't have the goal to play 2024 and beyond in goal for the German national team," he told reporters Tuesday, ahead of friendly games against Israel on Saturday and the Netherlands three days later.
"I have always said that I want to be there so long as I can help, I feel good, am needed and have fun."
If selected in both upcoming games Neuer will reach 110 appearances for his country.
"I really have fun to be here with the national team," he said. "That is still a big honour for me, even if I've been here many years and played lots of games.
"I'm happy to be part of the team. As long as that's the case, I want to keep on playing. My performance also has to fit with that."
At club level Neuer definitely wants to continue at the top level despite his contract with Bayern Munich expiring in 2023.
Talks of an extension are ongoing but Neuer said "there is no news" of a fresh deal.
