Borussia Dortmund will play Dynamo Kiev in a charity match on April 26, with all proceeds going to an organization that provides direct aid to Ukrainians in need after Russia's invasion, reported dpa.

Dortmund have invited the Ukrainian top club and their staff for the game which is to take place three days after their Bundesliga topper at leaders Bayern Munich.

"Football is the best pastime in the world. But there are things that are so much more important. Peace, Health, Homeland, Education," Dortmund chief executive Hans Joachim Watzke said in a statement.

"In the middle of Europe, all this is no longer a matter of course. And that hurts a lot. We stand with Ukraine."

Coach Marco Rose said Dortmund are in the process of choosing an organization for the match income which "makes sure that Ukrainians in need are helped directly.

"We will be happy about every football fan, regardless of his colours and about every person who buys a ticket to help the Ukrainians who have been hit so hard by the war," Rose said.
