Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is headed to Manchester City after the Bundesliga season, reported dpa, quoting German tabloid Bild on Saturday.

Coach Pep Guardiola wants new highlights in the squad and is therefore planning with the 21-year-old Norwegian, according to the report.

However, Haaland's advisor Mino Raiola and his father Alf-Inge Haaland would still have to scale back their financial demands significantly.

Man City are currently leaders in the Premier League. The club is in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Norwegian international can leave BVB after this season thanks to a €75m release clause.

Haarland has been linked with various top clubs for months. Real Madrid are also said to be interested. According to US sports broadcaster ESPN, he has now cancelled plans with Manchester United.

Haaland's contract in Dortmund actually runs until the summer of 2024.
