Thomas Müller has extended his contract at Bayern Munich for another season until June 2024, the Bundesliga champions said on Tuesday, reported dpa.
The 32-year-old forward's old contract would have expired in June, 2023, just like that of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (36) and striker Robert Lewandowski (33). Neuer is widely expected to follow suit with a new deal but Lewandowski's situation is more complex.
"It gives me immense pleasure to represent these red colours every year on and off the pitch. Even when the wind blows in your face. So let's keep tackling it together," said Müller, who is the Bundesliga record holder with 11 German championships as a player.
Müller, a 2014 World Cup winner with Germany, made his Bundesliga debut for his only club way back in 2008.
"Thomas Müller is an iconic figure who carries the crest of our club in his heart. Bayern have always been distinguished by continuity, and that is why we are happy that we have managed to extend with this important player. He is someone who shows leadership, plus his manner in the dressing room makes him an important character," said chief executive Oliver Kahn.
