Germany forward Timo Werner appears to be considering leaving his English club Chelsea to get more playing time in the run-up to the World Cup later this year, reported dpa.
Werner, 26, is not a regular starter under Blues manager Thomas Tuchel, and Chelsea have further bolstered their attack with the signing of England international Raheem Sterling.
Werner told reporters in Las Vegas after Chelsea's 2-1 win over Mexico's Club America on Monday, in which he scored the opening goal, that "I could be happy everywhere.
“It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to be in good shape for the World Cup, and also to have a chance to play.”
“The most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals. That’s the fact. That’s what I should take care of and other things will come.”
Werner came to Chelsea in 2020 from RB Leipzig and his contract is until 2025. The World Cup in Qatar is November 21-December 18.
Tuchel did not want to promise his countryman more minutes, saying: "We need to see but everybody is responsible for their own situation.
“Timo played 45 minutes like everybody else and scored, and from there we go.”
