German surprise 100 metres European champion Gina Lückenkemper is a doubt for the weekend 4x100m relay for injury reasons and will definitely not feature in the heats, reported dpa.

Lückenkemper said right after her Tuesday title that she had thigh muscle problems after the semi-finals and then also required a late night trip to hospital for a cut in her thigh which required eight stitches.

She said in the team hotel Wednesday she won't be in the heats scheduled for Friday but there is optimisim she could be fit for Sunday's final, although "of course there is no guarantee."

Lückenkemper won world championship bronze last month together with Tatjana Pinto, Rebekka Haase and Alexandra Burghardt in the relay. The three others are also in Munich and Lückenkemper's place at least in the heats would go to reserves Lisa Mayer orLisa Nippgen.

Lückenkemper had earlier said "I don't really know where that wound comes from, whether from the fall or something else. But I am feeling fine. I am overjoyed and can't really believe it yet."

The 2018 silver medallist had claimed a dramatic gold in Tuesday night in a photo finish against world indoor sprint champion Mujinga Kambudji of Switzerland, with both clocking 10.99 seconds.
