Sebastian Vettel said on Thursday he would "seriously consider" coming out of Formula One retirement if he had the opportunity to race at the Suzuka track again, reported dpa.
Aston Martin's Vettel, 35, has announced he will quit after the season which will make Sunday's race on the Japanese track his final one.
The German has said that Suzuka is his favourite track in the sport. He won four races there, including in 2011 to clinch the second of his four straight world titles.
Vettel said "I wouldn’t mind jumping back in for a race at Suzuka at any time" and added “If anybody is happy to sign up a driver for a single race, it’s something I’d seriously consider!”
"I’ve always loved the track. I think it stands out as my favourite track on the calendar.
“Just the layout of corners, the first sector, it’s iconic, it’s a figure-of-eight track, the only one we have. Plus, the atmosphere, the attention the sport gets when we come here is crazy."
Vettel was welcomed enthusiastically by the Japanese fans and admitted that racing for the last time there makes the weekend even more special for him.
“I didn’t think at the other races – I know it will be my last time, but here it does feel a bit different somehow. I look forward to the sessions we have and the race on Sunday,” he said.
