Bayern Munich left back Alphonso Davies suffered a cranial bruise in Saturday's 2-2 Bundesliga draw at Borussia Dortmund, the German champions said on Sunday.
He was substituted at half-time after being kicked in the face by Jude Bellingham. He was taken to hospital for concussion checks.
"The 21-year-old is feeling good in the circumstances but sat out training on Sunday," a statement said, without mentioning if the Canadian risked missing any further action.
Bayern were upset that Bellingham was not shown a second yellow card for the incident with Davies.
Bayern forward Thomas Müller meanwhile returned to training on Sunday following a coronavirus infection and is expected to be in the squad for Wednesday's Champions League game at Viktoria Plzen.
Müller missed Bayern's 5-0 home win over Plzen last week and the Dortmund draw because of the illness.
