France defender Benjamin Pavard is not ruling out leaving Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and playing in another country in the future, reported dpa.

The 26-year-old arrived in Germany in 2016 from Lille and played at VfB Stuttgart for three years before in 2019 joining Bayern where he has a contract until 2024.

Pavard said in an interview with Friday's edition of French sports paper L'Equipe there have so far been no renewal talks with Munich and that he could see himself seek a new challenge in the future.

"I am not averse to discovering a new project. Maybe the time has come now. Why not discover a new country, a new culture?" Pavard said.

Pavard said that the main aspect of a potential move must be a good sporting perspective at a new club - after winning every club title on offer with Bayern, highlighted by the 2020 treble.

"I am not making a fictional scenario, we will see what options there are, and we will talk about them with Bayern," he said.

"I have great respect for Bayern. I have learnt the requirements there at a very high level and it is an honour to wear this shirt."

The 63-times capped Pavard said that his full focus was on Bayern and on the French national team which aims to defend its 2018 title at the World Cup in Qatar which starts next week Sunday.

"At the moment I am concentrating on the World Cup and on being the best I can be, at a very big club, one of the best in the world," the World Cup winner from four years ago said.
