Formula One driver Mick Schumacher is set to be replaced at Haas by fellow German Nico Hülkenberg for next season, Germany's Bild newspaper reported on Monday, reported dpa.

The 23-year-old, son of seven-times champion Michael, has struggled at times this season and has been waiting to know if he would be kept on.

Team-mate Kevin Magnussen has consistently outperformed the German while Schumacher has also had some financially costly crashes for the team.

Haas had indicated that a decision would come between Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix, where Schumacher finished 13th, and this weekend's Abu Dhabi season finale.

Bild did not name its sources. Haas did not respond to requests for comment.

Hülkenberg, 35, is currently the reserve driver at Aston Martin and competed in the first two races of the season. He has raced in 181 grands prix in total, also for Williams, Force India and Renault.

Schumacher, who has been in F1 for two years, said after the Sao Paulo race: "Sometimes it's your year and sometimes not. I think this was not my year."

With all other race seats seemingly allocated for next season, it would leave the Schumacher name out of F1 and he may have to compete in smaller series.
