Italy's Lisa Vittozzi secured her first World Cup win this season in the 15-kilometres race in Ruhpolding, Germany on Thursday, reported dpa.

The Italian, who stood on the podium for the sixth time this season, didn't miss a single target and clocked 40 minutes 05.9 second to claim victory.

France's Lou Jeanmonnot was 39 seconds behind and also hit all targets to clinch the first individual World Cup podium in her career. Her countrywoman and World Cup leader Julia Simon completed the podium in third, 45.2 seconds off the pace and with one missed target.

Athletes don't ski a penalty lap for each missed target but get a time penalty.

During the men's race on Wednesday, won by Johannes Thingnes Bö, several power outages hit the Ruhpolding venue, including lights at the shooting range.

The timing equipment was not affected by the problems as it had batteries as a back-up and the jury decided that the result would count.

Ruling body IBU said on Thursday that "the venue’s electrical system experienced a malfunction which led to a temporary blackout. Moreover, the backup battery box didn’t turn over."

The exact cause has not yet been determined and the IBU said that detailed investigations will be only possible after the end of the World Cup, but added that it's securing "additional back-ups to ensure there is no disruption" during the event week.
