Germany make history to reach Ice Hockey WC final beating USA

Germany reached to the final of Ice Hockey World Championship after they beat most favourite USA in extra time by four goals to three in the semi-final at Nokia Arena in Tampere late Saturday night.

With this victory the Germans reached to the final of the tournament for the first time since 1953.

Although early scores by Alex Tuch and Rocco Grimaldi at the second and fourth minutes of the match took lead for the USA, Frederik Tiffels of Germany reduced the gap with a goal at 13th minute while Maksymilian Szuber levelled the score at 17th minute.

Both the teams tried hard to take the lead through attack and counter-attack in the neck and neck match but Michael Eyssimont of USA did it successfully after scoring at the 29th minute.

The Germans tried to come back and started to play empty-net from 59th minute and Marcel Noebels equalised the score within few second and ended the normal time 3-3 leading the match to the extra time.

Frederik Tiffels scored again at the eighth minute of extra time to ensure the victory for Germany by 4-3 and took the team to the team to the final of the world championship for the first time in the history.

Earlier on the day, Latvia lost to Canada in their first ever semi-final match at Nokia Arena despite taking lead of the match twice.

Canada won the match by 4-2 to reach to the final of the tournament.

Canada will face Germany in the final while Latvia will play with USA in the bronze medal match on Sunday.
