Inui retains women's solo free crown at swimming worlds

Japan's Inui Yukiko retained the women's solo free title at the World Aquatics Championships on Wednesday, reported Xinhua.

The 32-year-old, also the winner of the solo technical event, has repeated her feat of winning both events at the Budapest worlds last year.

Inui scored 254.6062 points to secure the gold, followed by Austria's Vasiliki Alexandri in 229.3251 and Britain's Kate Shortman in 219.9542.

The men's solo free gold went to Spain's Dennis Gonzalez Boneu, who finished with 193.0334 points. Colombia's Gustavo Sanchez was second with 189.9625, and American Kenneth Gaudet took bronze in 179.5562.
