RB Leipzig have extended the contract with their record appearance holder Yussuf Poulsen until 2026, the Bundesliga club said on Tuesday, reported dpa.

The Danish forward has joined the club in 2013 at the age of 19, and has so far scored 85 goals in 370 games.

"I was basically just a young lad still when I came to Leipzig in 2013. It was a new country, a new language and a new team for me. What’s happened since is pretty crazy," Poulsen said.

Sporting director Rouven Schröder added: "Yussuf Poulen’s story at RB Leipzig is something incredible. His journey here started in the third division and continued all the way to the Champions League. To spend such a long time at the same club is incredible too."
