Bayern Munich have extended the contracts of goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich by a year until June 2025, the Bundesliga champions said on Tuesday, reported dpa.
"Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich are simply a dream team. It’s a pleasure to watch them in their daily work. They support and motivate each other and exemplify the values that characterize FC Bayern," CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said.
Neuer joined Bayern from Schalke in 2011 and soon became the team's number one. Since 2017, he's also the team captain.
With the Bavarians, he won the treble of the Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup twice (2013 and 2020). In total, Neuer won 11 Bundesliga titles with Bayern.
So far, he’s made 494 appearances in a Bayern shirt, and could draw level with Bastian Schweinsteiger (500) in the all-time appearance ranking before the end of the year.
Neuer suffered a season-ending leg fracture last December after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was sidelined for more than 10 months. He made his comeback to the pitch at the end of October.
"After my long injury, I’m back in full swing. It’s immense fun for me to be on the pitch with this team. I’m sure that, together with the fans, we can achieve our big goals in the coming years – and obviously the 2025 Champions League final in Munich is one of them," Neuer said.
Ulreich came to Bayern in 2015 from VfB Stuttgart and has been a loyal back-up keeper. Recently, he replaced Neuer between the posts while he recovered from his long-term injury.
"When I came to Bayern from Stuttgart in 2015, I never would’ve thought I’d stay here for so long. Now I’ve extended my contract until 2025 and will continue to do my bit to help us achieve our aims," Ulreich said.
