Markkanen awarded Finland's Athlete of the Year 2023

Basketball player Lauri Markkanen has become Finland's Athlete of the Year for 2023 awarded by the Finnish Sports Journalists Association on Friday.
Markkanen is leading the Utah Jazz in the National Basketball Association (NBA), a professional basketball league in North America and his team is now one of the top favourites after winning eight games out of the last 10.
The Finnish Sports Journalists Association has been awarding the country´s Athlete of the Year since 1947 and Markkanen is the first basketball player who won the award.
Markkanen expressed his satisfaction over winning the prestigious award and said that it was a huge achievement for him. He also expressed optimism to take Finnish sports forward.
