Heslop wins 27m high diving world title

Aidan Heslop became world champion for the first time in his career, after triumphing in the men's 27m high diving at the World Aquatics Championships on Thursday, reported Xinhua.

On his final jump, the Briton's 6.2DD dive earned 151.90 points, bringing his total to 422.95, eliciting the most enthusiastic cheers and securing his victory.

"I was not really expecting to push for the gold medal. To find myself in this situation was a shock. I could not believe it," said the 21-year-old.

France's Gary Hunt, trailing by 9.7 points, secured silver with a total of 413.25 points, marking his fifth world championship medal. He will now shift his focus to the 10m synchronized diving event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Catalin-Petru Preda of Romania took the bronze medal with 410.20 points.
