Former Uruguay international striker Edinson Cavani has extended his contract with Boca Juniors until December 2026, the Argentine club said on Friday, reported Xinhua.

Boca announced the renewal by posting a photo of Cavani signing the deal while holding a club shirt with 2026 on the back.

The 37-year-old has scored 20 goals in 43 matches across all competitions since joining the Buenos Aires outfit on a free transfer in July 2023.

His previous contract had been due to expire at the end of this year.

Cavani called time on his international career in May after 136 appearances and 58 goals for the Celeste over 16 years.

His curriculum vitae includes spells at Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli and Valencia, among other clubs.
