Driver killed in Toivakka Rally accident

A rally driver was killed in an accident during the Toivakka Rally at Toivakka, a municipality near Jyväskylä in Central Finland on Saturday afternoon, police said in a press release.

The accident took place at the fourth stage of the rally when a car skidded off the road and fell into a snowdrift at about 4:00 p.m.

Driver of the car was killed on the spot in the accident.

The police, however, did not divulge detail identity of the deceased.

Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out the reason behind it.

Yellow Racing Team, organiser of rally in a statement condoled the death of the driver.

The organiser in the statement posted on its social media platform Facebook also expressed empathy to the family members and friends of the deceased.
