Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed that Neymar has a crack in his right foot and an ankle sprain. With only nine days before PSG hosting Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League, it is doubtful if the Brazilian striker could make a quick recovery.

Neymar picked up the injury late in PSG's 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday as he challenged Bouna Sarr. Losing balance, he rolled his ankle and was stretchered off in tears. Medical reports shows he has suffered a cracked fifth metatarsal in his right foot and a sprained ankle.

Joining from Barcelona for an astounshing 222 million euros ($260 million), Neymar has registered 28 goals and 16 assists for PSG in all competitions, adding further strength to its prolific front court. His arrival is widely interpreted as PSG's determination to go further in the Champions League, especially after the French club got eliminated by Barcelona in the round of 16 with a 4-0 advantage in the first leg last season.

PSG did not release a timetable for his recovery, but it is highly possible that Neymar will be sitting on the sidelines as PSG hosting Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 on March 6. In the first leg, PSG lost by 1-3.
