Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain announced on Thursday that teenager Kylian Mbappe's jersey number had been changed from No. 29 to No. 7 for the upcoming 2018/19 season.

Brazilian winger Lucas Moura last wore PSG's No. 7 until he left for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in January 2018.

It's a coincidence that Lucas already switched his kit number from 29 to 7 in June 2014.

"I always thought that the kit number was not of great importance. I thought that how you behave on the pitch is more important, but your number shows your ambitions and it shows the kind of player you want to be," said the 19-year-old Mbappe, who recently lifted the World Cup with France.

"Seven is a legendary number. A lot of great players have worn it. I hope I'll do justice to this great number with good performances on the pitch. I will keep working really hard in order to improve and see where this takes me," Mbappe said.

Mbappe said that he came to PSG to accomplish something and he hopes he can "achieve greatness" at the club.
