Brazil extend lead at top of FIFA rankings

Brazil extended their lead over traditional rivals Argentina at the top of the latest FIFA world rankings published on Thursday.

The five-time world champions, who last month became the first team to qualify for next year's World Cup, stretched the gap between first and second to 69 points, up from 58 points in April.

The first 20 places remained unchanged from the previous month as Germany, Chile and Colombia rounded out the top five.

Malawi was the biggest mover, dropping 14 places to 114th while Madagascar rose nine rungs to 111th.

China remained 81st, having jumped five places in April after their 1-0 victory over South Korea in a World Cup qualifier.
