Reigning Olympic and world champion Thiam added another medal to her title collection after outperforming the competition.
Britain's Katarina Johnson-Thompson secured the silver medal with 6,759 points followed by Germany's bronze winner Carolin Schafer, who eked out 6602 points.
"It was breathtaking. I will not forget this my whole life," Schafer said.
