UK's Muir wins women's 1,500m at European Championships

Britain's Laura Muir acquired the women's 1,500m gold in 4 minutes 2.32 seconds at the European Championships in Berlin Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Poland's Sofia Ennaoui took the silver with 4 minutes 03.08 seconds.

"I'm really, really happy with this gold medal. I knew the pressure was on, and I'm really glad Laura Weightman was right behind me, so both of us could be on the podium," Muir said.

The European Championships is the first edition of a new multi-sport event, which is jointly hosted by Glasgow and Berlin. More than 4,500 athletes are competing for 187 gold medals until Aug. 12.
