Bayern coach Kovac to abandon rotation of players

Bayern Munich and coach Niko Kovac are determined to get over the current crisis by abandoning rotation of players.

The 47-year-old Kovac said that he enjoys the full support of his squad and club, ahead of their Bundesliga away game against Werder Bremen, as club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, president Uli Hoeness and key players have agreed to achieve a re-start.

And Kovac, who earlier coached the Croatian national team and Eintracht Frankfurt, said he will change his tactics, abandon rotation as much as possible to cater to the needs of the players.

"We will have a constant frame when it comes to the lineup and only occasionally change it," he said. "It will only work when everyone's efforts are dedicated to the team."

"I know that a club like Bayern needs to be among the first four in the tableau to keep everyone happy."

To close the gap, he hoped that "we perform well over the remaining weeks until the winter break."

"We are desperate about closing the gap to the leading teams in the Bundesliga and act as a team," said striker Robert Lewandowski.

Rummenigge said he was happy to have Kovac around "not only for Christmas 2018 but for Christmas 2019 and 2020."

"I see a coach who has discovered his fighting heart. He is ready to make changes, and he knows changes are inevitable," he added.

Hoeness also offered full support for Kovac, saying "we haven't given up this season."
