Finland failed to reach final of the Ice Hockey World Championship 2017 as they lost to the archrival Sweden by 1 goal to 4 in the semi-finals in Cologne, Germany on Saturday.

Sweden dominated the match by their extra-ordinary performance ignoring the resistance from the Lions.

Sweden will face Canada on Sunday for the trophy while Finland will face Russia for the third place.

Earlier, Canada reached final beating Russia by 4 goals to nil.

Joonas Kemppainen had the lone goal for Finland. The disappointed Finns, who settled for silver last year with a 2-0 final loss to Canada, still have a chance to medal for the second consecutive year when they take on Russia for bronze, reported IIHF.

"I don't think we played well enough to win," Mikko Rantanen told IIHF, adding, "We know Sweden has a really good team and we needed to play our best. We didn't. The better team won."
