With striker Son Heung-Min recognized as Premier League Player of the Year for the 2018/19 season and Mauricio Pochettino as Manager of the Year, Tottenham Hotspur were the biggest winners at Thursday's London Football Awards.

"It means a lot," said the South Korean, who beat Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and last year's winner Harry Kane to be granted the honor.

"For me, it's special, my first award [of this kind]. Many players have not won this trophy, so for me it's really special, especially because such big names have won this award [in the past]. It means a lot and I'm very happy to win."

Son has registered 16 goals and nine assists in his 34 appearances for Spurs in all competitions this season. The club currently sit third in the Premier League and have one foot in the Champions League quarterfinals after beating German side Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in their round of 16 first leg tie.

Pochettino, another key man behind Tottenham's success, beat Chelsea's Maurizio Sarri, Charlton Athletic's Lee Bowyer, Joe Montenurro of Arsenal Ladies and Javi Gracia of Watford to claim the Manager of the Year award.

"I am so happy," the Argentinian said. "I think it's so important and I am so proud to be here and to share this type of event together with a lot of legends and some amazing people."

Declan Rice of West Ham won the Young Player of the Year award, and Ben Foster of Watford was named Goalkeeper of the Year. Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema was awarded the title of Women's Player of the Year.

Celebrating the very best of football in the British capital, the London Football Awards are voted on by an independent judging panel of 22 representatives from football administration and football media.
