The biggest public transport reform in the Helsinki region since the introduction of regional tickets has been successfully implemented, said the Helsinki Region Transport Authority-HSL.
The old fare zones based on municipal boundaries have been replaced by new fare zones, A, B, C and D.
Tickets are now available from all HSL sales points and ticket machines and HSL cards can again be topped up at sales points and ticket machines. Service points will be open as usual on Monday 29 April.
You can visit a service point to change the validity area of your season ticket if the new zone ticket does not meet your travel needs. You can also update your customer group information and discount entitlement at a service point from Monday.
The Journey Planner and HSL app help you select the right ticket for your journey; they not only find you the best route but also tell you which ticket you need for the route. At stops and stations, the zone is shown on stop signs as well as on the information posters and other signage. On buses, the onboard displays show the zone in which the vehicle is.
The displays alternate showing the destination and the next stop. Card readers only display the tickets available for purchase in the zone you are in. Service points have maps showing bus routes and zone boundaries.
