British low-cost carrier easyJet will operate direct flights from Manchester to Rovaniemi from November 21 this year, according to Finavia, the company that operates the country’s airports.
The new route will be operated with A320 aircraft two times a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, from November to January.
“The international interest towards Lapland has clearly increased. The EasyJet’s direct route between Rovaniemi and Manchester gives even better prospects for Lapland’s tourism to develop. Lapland has attraction that stems from diverse activities, beautiful nature and of course Santa Claus”, said Manager of Rovaniemi Airport Johan Juujärvi.
“We’re delighted to announce a new winter route from Manchester to Rovaniemi which allows us to offer our customers an even wider range of exciting destinations to visit this year. We remain committed to providing great value services to our customers across the region by offering low fares, a convenient schedule and more choice when they travel”, said Neil Slaven, UK Country Director, easyJet.
Finavia invests major amounts in Lapland Airports to support the growth of the area. Rovaniemi Airport’s terminal expands over 75% by Christmas season in 2019.
easyJet started direct flights from Rovaniemi to London last year.
