The Metro rail services resumed at Helsinki on Saturday after closure following Friday´s heavy downpour, although the metro station at Central railway station remained closed.
The metro trains do not stop at the Central Railway Station and the fire department is pumping water out of the premises, said a press release issued by the city of Helsinki.
According to HKL, the Central Railway Station Metro Station will remain closed until further notice. The station is closed due to water damage on Friday. HSL will notify passengers of the reopening of the station.
The disruption is due to flooding in the mechanical room at the Central Railway Station metro station following the heavy rain.
The metro is currently not running between Ruoholahti and Helsinki University. The metro runs between Matinkylä and Lauttasaari and between Helsinki University and Mellunmäki/Vuosaari but the headways are irregular and there may be cancellations.
The metro service is replaced by buses 20 and 21 serving Lauttasaari, which temporarily run to the Kamppi terminal directly along Porkkalankatu. The buses do not serve Bulevardi and Eira.
