The Port of Helsinki has built a new check-in area for passengers on the Vuosaari–Muuga route in Meriportti by the Vuosaari Harbour, said the Port of Helsinki in a press release.
The new area serving the car passengers of Tallink Seawind and Eckerö Line Finbo Cargo will open in two stages.
From 13 July 2020 onwards, cars leaving Finland will use the new route to board the ships, said the press release.
However, cars arriving in Finland will continue to use the old route as a convoy via Hansa Terminal.
The new route will be available in both directions from the start of 2021, after the construction of new Customs building is completed.
The drive from the new area to the ship will be approximately one kilometre shorter than the drive from Hansa passenger terminal. The new route will also be safer as there are significantly fewer junctions and encounters with machinery than before.
Passengers with cars travelling to Germany on Finnlines ships will continue to use the existing gate and check-in area at Hansa Terminal.
