Number of passengers at Finnish airports slides by 86% in August

A total of 332,958 passengers flew through Finnish airports in August 2020, which was 86 per cent lower than the stipulated period of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

There were 272,715 passengers at Helsinki Airport and a total of 60,243 passengers at other domestic airports in August 2020. Helsinki Airport accounted for 82 per cent of all passengers at domestic airports.

In August 2020 the number of passengers at Helsinki Airport decreased by 87 per cent and the combined number of passengers at other Finnish airports went down by 78 per cent compared to August 2019.

About 70 percent of the passengers were from international flights and 30 per cent from domestic flights.

In the January to August period of 2020 altogether 5.7 million passengers flew through Finnish airports, which was 68 per cent lower than one year before.

About 71 per cent of the passengers were from international flights and 29 per cent from domestic flights. There were 4.5 million passengers at Helsinki Airport and a total of 1.2 million passengers at other domestic airports. Helsinki Airport accounted for 79 per cent of all passengers at domestic airports.
