Train trips by passengers drop 35% in Q3

Finnish railways in the third quarter of 2020 saw a total of 14.8 million trips made by passengers, posting a year-on-year drop of 35 per cent, according to the Statistics Finland.
The number of passenger-kilometres in train traffic totalled 774 million, decreasing by 38 per cent from that in the corresponding quarter of 2019.
In January to September 2020, a total of 44.4 million trips were made in passenger traffic, which is 34 per cent less than that one year earlier.
In January to September 2020, the number of passenger-kilometres in train traffic was 2,231 million, registering a 38 per cent fall year on year.
A total of 9.3 million tonnes of goods were transported by rail in Finland in the third quarter of 2020. The volume of goods transported by rail was 2.4 billion tonne-kilometres.
