No taxi, car allowed at Helsinki Airport’s main entrance

Taxi traffic and passenger drop-off and pick-up will be concentrated in front of Terminal 1 (T1), as it will no longer be possible to drive a car in front of the airport’s main entrance from 2 March, said Finavia in a press release on Monday.

​“In practice, the change means that passengers travelling in taxis or cars will leave and arrive at the airport via the hall of T1. The new arrangements do not concern the passengers travelling by bus, wheelchair taxi or train,” said Jukka Isomäki, head of Parking & taxi and car rental accounts.

The authorities suggested people going to the airport to pick up passengers and to park their cars in P3.

“I recommend driving into the parking hall. There is always space available, and you won’t need to stress about finding a space for your car or things like parking restrictions and parking fines. You can wait for the person you're picking up in your car or at the meeting point in T1,” said Isomäki.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all flights have for now been concentrated in Terminal 2 (T2), which can be accessed on foot from T1 via the corridor connecting the two terminals.

People picking up or dropping off passengers are asked to wait in T1.
