Finavia, the company that operates Finnish airports will handover the ownership of the Enontekiö Airport to the Municipality of Enontekiö on Wednesday, said Finavia in a press release on Tuesday.
The airport will be transferred based on an agreement signed in November 2020 between the Finavia and the municipality of Enontekiö.
“I thank all the people who have worked at Enontekiö Airport over the years for their commitment and contribution to the development of the airport, as well as our local stakeholders for their good cooperation. I hope that the connections and accessibility of the area will continue to evolve with the new owner,” said Jani Jolkkonen, Finavia's Senior Vice President of Airport Networks.
Enontekiö Airport was completed 41 years ago and was part of Finavia's airport network from 1988 to 2021.
Finavia will support the municipality of Enontekiö during the transition period so that the transfer of the airport to the new owner can be carried out as smoothly as possible.
