The Trade Union- Pro (Ammattiliitto- Pro ) decided to observe a two-week strike at aviation sector from Monday, which may disrupt flight operation at Helsinki Airport.

The walkout is scheduled to start at 6:00 am on 17 January and continue until 31 January, said the union in a press release on Sunday.

Pro called the strike to press home its demand for involvement of service sector employers in the collective bargaining for air services between Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) and the Service Sector Employers group Palta.

The strike will affect the operations of Finnair, Finnair Technical Services, GA Telesis Engine Services, ground support equipment services firm TCR and Hub Logistics.

Earlier on 12 January, national flag carrier Finnair in a press release said that the strike announced by Finnish labour union Pro for 17 January can cause disruption in flight operation, which may also cause cancellation of flights.

Finnair is not a party in the dispute between the two labour unions, but any strike action would still have an impact upon Finnair aircraft maintenance, said the Finnair in the press release.
