The government on Thursday appointed Air Navigation Services Finland Oy as the air traffic service provider responsible for Finland's air traffic control, aerodrome and approach control services.
The government also decided that the ownership steering of the company will be the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The company will begin its operations on April 1, 2017, said a government press release.
The wholly state-owned Air Navigation Services Finland Oy will be responsible for such special functions related to air navigation as airspace management, area control, aeronautical services for state purposes and air search and rescue services.
On 20 December 2016, the Government's Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy supported the proposal to turn the air navigation services of Finavia Corporation into a special assignment company.
