Disruptions to metro and tram services are feared in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area this fall due to shortage of staff, said the City of Helsinki in a press release on Wednesday.
This week, disruptions to metro services are feared especially in the mornings. There may also be cancellations to tram services.
The situation, however, is expected to improve as new drivers complete their training in the coming months.
Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd aims to train 158 new tram drivers and 40 new metro drivers by summer 2023.
The authorities already changed the metro and tram services timetables to ensure reliable service.
For example, the metro runs every six minutes at peak times instead of every five minutes. Current timetables are available in the Journey Planner.
Passengers of cancellations will be noticed at hsl.fi as well as via the HSL app.
