Number of passenger train trips rises 58% in Q2

Number of trips by train in passenger traffic increased in the second quarter of 2022, according to Statistics Finland.

A total of 19.3 million trips was travelled by rail in April-June period and the number was 58 % higher than in the same quarter of 2021.

The number of trips, however, was 14 % lower than the pandemic level of the second quarter of 2019.

Freight transferred by rail in the second quarter of 2022 was 7.2 million tons, which was 31 % less than in the second quarter of 2021.
