Sea passenger doubles in Aug but lower than pre-pandemic level

A total of 1.5 million people were transported in sea passenger traffic in August 2022, according to Statistics Finland.

Compared to August 2021, the number of passengers increased by 94 per cent but compared to August 2019 the number of passengers was, however, just 68 percent of the level before the corona pandemic.

Out of total passengers, 739,162 travelled between Finland and Estonia, 676,513 travelled between Finland and Sweden and 22,981 travelled between Finland and Germany.

In August 2022, 50,043 passengers of foreign cruise ships arrived in Finland.
