Foreign tourist inflow ups in June

A total of 2.24 million overnight stays were recorded in June 2023, of which 1.78 million were overnight stays by resident tourists, according to the preliminary data of Statistics Finland.
The total number of overnight stays increased by three per cent from the year before.
The number of nights spent by resident tourists remained on level with June 2022 and the number of nights spent by non-resident tourists was 17 per cent higher.
Over one-half of overnight stays by foreign tourists were recorded in Uusimaa, where their number grew by 22 per cent.
The biggest countries of origin for foreign tourists were Germany, Sweden and the United States.
The number of overnight stays by resident tourists remained in all regions close to the level seen in June 2022. In relative terms, the growth was biggest in Ostrobothnia and South Savo, six per cent in both.
The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 56 per cent, which is two percentage points higher than in June 2022.
The average price of a hotel room was EUR 118, having been EUR 115 one year earlier. The average price was highest in Satakunta, EUR 129.
