VR reserves more trains for Xmas bustle

The national railway operator VR Group is preparing for the Christmas season rush by increasing staff and reserving more rolling stocks, reported the local media.
“This is a very important season and it is estimated that 500,000 passengers will be transported during Christmas and New Year period,” VR Vice President, Operations Tero Kossila told MTV in its Huomenta Suomessa (Good Morning Finland) programme.
According to Kossila, VR has done a lot of work ahead of time and has reserved spare rolling stocks. Furthermore, the company is looking forward to ensure that the travellers reach their destination safely, despite the weather conditions.
VR has learnt from previous winters, Kossila remarked, adding that Christmas time is one of the busiest period on the railroad.
