Metro service through Helsinki city center to disrupt for 3 months

Major service changes will start June 3 with the closure of the Central Railway Station and Mellunmäki Metro Stations, said the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (Helsingin seudun liikenne – HSL) in a bulletin on Wednesday.
Metro service through Helsinki city center will be disrupted for three months as the Central Railway Station Metro Station will be closed from June 3 to September 1.
Mellunmäki Metro Station will be closed from June 3 to September 8 and Myllypuro and Kontula stations will also be closed for part of the summer.
The HSL, however, will ensure that people can get around even when there are disruptions and will provide additional tram services in the city center and bus services in East Helsinki.
There will be changes to tram routes when street work starts at the Opera junction on Mannerheimintie.
Tram route 8 will be replaced by bus, and tram route 1 will be diverted via the Central Railway Station.
Trams 2, 4 and 10 will run via Ruusulankatu to avoid the Opera junction.
The lifts at the Kamppi and University of Helsinki Metro Stations are likely to be exceptionally busy during the closure of the Central Railway Station Metro Station.
