Finnish airports see higher Int´l passengers, lower domestic in June

A total of 1.7 million passengers flew through Finnish airports in June 2024 and the number is 9 per cent higher compared to the number in June 2023, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of passengers on domestic flights decreased by one per cent while the number of passengers on international flights increased by 10 per cent from the previous year.
In June 2024, Helsinki Airport accounted for 90 per cent of all passengers at domestic airports.
In June 2024, a total of 1.5 million passengers flew through Helsinki Airport and altogether 180,000 passengers flew through other domestic airports.
Eighty-seven per cent of the air traffic passengers travelled on international flights and 13 per cent on domestic flights in June 2024.
The share of passengers on international flights was 93 per cent at Helsinki Airport and 38 per cent in total at other domestic airports. Of all passengers, 96 per cent travelled on scheduled flights.
During January to June in 2024, a total of 9.4 million passengers flew through Finnish airports, which is 4 per cent more than in the same period in 2023.
From the beginning of 2024, the volume of freight and mail transport totalled 92,000 tonnes, which is 7 per cent more than in January to June 2023.
