Foreign tourist inflow rises by 13% in June

The number of nights spent by non-resident tourists increased by 13 per cent in June 2024 from the year before, according to Statistics Finland.

The highest numbers of foreign visitors came from Sweden, Germany and the United States.

A total of 2.31 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation establishments in Finland in June 2024.

The number of nights spent by resident tourists was 1.80 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 0.51 million.

The total number of overnight stays increased by three per cent from the year before.

The number of overnight stays by resident tourists went up by one per cent from the previous year in June 2024.

Most overnight stays were recorded in Uusimaa, where the number of overnight stays grew by 19 per cent from the year before.

Correspondingly, overnight stays decreased by seven per cent in Pirkanmaa and by five per cent in Southwest Finland.

The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 58 per cent, which is two percentage points higher than in June 2023.

In Helsinki, the occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 76 per cent.

The average price of a hotel room was EUR 122, which is EUR five more than in the previous year. The price of a hotel room was highest in Helsinki, EUR 143.
